featured

I am beyond excited to start out my weekend being featured as part of 'before & after' on Matters of Style today!  It has long been one of my favorite blogs, and I'm thrilled that our skirted console table project made their list!

Be sure to go over and check us out, along with all the other incredible before & after's featured... Because who doesn't like a good makeover?

We're picking up a bookcase from Craigslist this weekend (in need of a little love), and hopefully starting a few more projects to share soon...

Happy Weekend!

Back to blogging

Hi friends! Anyone still out there?  Thanks for hanging around, while I took a month-long (oops!) break from blogging.

I've been doing a lot of this...

Taking a little time to relax & a little break from the projects around here... and of course, rethinking the direction of the blog and freshening things up on Wedded Whittaker.  Hopefully some good posts to come, including a few new recipes, home projects, and a big exterior home makeover in the fall!

Excited for more posts to come...

For your blog roll

Exciting news!  My amazingly talented friend Sarah has just launched a new design blog!  She's currently an interior design student and has such a unique, eclectic style.

I'm so hopeful that her new blog will feature pictures and projects from her own home... In addition to chronicling her journey to open her own design business and store!

"I believe that design is a constantly changing process as it molds itself to suit and inspire our aesthetic as well as our conventional needs"

So without further ado, here is The Curator Collective!

Painted Floors?

I've always loved this skirted console table.  And I just noticed that the floors beneath it are painted {cue wheels turning in my mind}

{source unknown}

Camila at Effortless Style (my new blog obsession) successfully painted her kitchen floor.  And I wonder if it could help us with our multiple flooring-types dilemma...

Thoughts?  Anyone out there tried it?

Featured

I'm so excited that our Framed Map Series project was featured on Sister Sister Sunday this week!

Every week, in addition to posting about their favorite things, sisters Mandy & Ashlie choose a recipe or project that readers submit as part of the Sunday 'Linky Party.'

And this week (which also had the most linkers to date), they featured our project.  What a great start to the week!  Thank you, Mandy & Ashlie!

Guest Post: Sister Sister Sunday

Obviously still feeling a little delayed, even after a productive weekend... But I was fortunate enough to guest post with my sister-in-law, Kelly, on her sister-in-law Mandy's blog, Kuzak's Closet, on Sunday.

I love reading her blog, especially the updates on her amazing job as a professional organizer!  Every week Mandy and her sister Ashlie co-post on their favorite things for Sister Sister Sunday.  Luckily for me, they invite other sisters to guest post, and I was so excited to be included with Kelly!

With fall and football season quickly approaching, we featured our favorite tailgate recipes!  I have to admit that most of college was spent tailgating with chips & Bubba burgers... So I modified a new-to-me recipe from Sarah and was so happy with the results!

Not for the health-conscious tailgater... but really, is that the point of enjoying drinks, friends & football?  Definitely not!

For Your Blog Roll

Perhaps I'm one of the few that hasn't heard of the amazing talents of New Dress A Day's Marisa.  She is nearing the end of her personal challenge:  365 days, 365 'new' outfits, $365.  Laura blogged about her last week, and now I am totally obsessed!

She decided to give up all traditional shopping in favor of creating her own designs using only $1 per day and only vintage/Goodwill/used clothing... The results are incredible!

Before:

After:

I would without a doubt wear all of the 'afters'!  Only adding more to my desire to learn my own way around a sewing machine... Although I have a feeling that creativity like hers can't be learned!

Busy Week

Sorry for being so MIA lately... The last few weeks have been hopping at work!  And at school... 3 more weeks to go until the end of the summer semester + 2 classes = tons of final projects/papers/presentations due!

I can't promise that there will be too many posts coming your way this week either... But in the meantime, check out Sarah's new blog, the yogi monster.  I'm so excited that she has decided to share her healthy lifestyle with the masses!

And if you can't get enough there, Jeff's cousin also recently started a blog, Organic Girl, on holistic health.

Enjoy!

Monday's Funny

In case you need a little laugh on a bleak Monday... I thought these catalog/design images paired with hilarious captions were just the pick-me-up I needed!

He tried to relax and enjoy the moment, but he couldn’t help wishing that there was one more section in his sectional.

Unfortunately, she’s the only one who thinks “Antiques Roadshow” is a comedy.

The black hole had sucked everything out of the playroom. Save his sister or the coloring books? He made a split-second decision.

In search of a less bleak playground, the toddler pedaled faster.

For You Hipsters

I am not a hipster, but apparently George Costanza (yes, that George from Seinfeld) was the original... Check out this hilarious blog post with side-by-side comparisons of Costanza and hipster styles.

I think I'm more of an Elaine... especially on the dance floor.

One for the Blog Roll

My major renovation/project house itch is back... Mostly due to Ericka's twin sister's blog, Fly Through Our Window.  Their current house renovations are incredible!

Not to mention the fact that their kitchen renovation still has me drooling.  My dream kitchen is black granite counter-tops (check), white cabinets (check), some open or glass shelving up top (check), breakfast bar (check)... The only thing that would make their kitchen my absolute dream would be a blue recycled glass backsplash and a farm sink.

Then I stumbled upon this new-to-me show on HGTV (definitely not helping with my renovation itch)  Sarah's House chronicles designer Sarah Richardson's purchase and complete renovation of an old farmhouse!

Jeff & I were both wishing we'd jumped on the old plantation home out in Union, South Carolina when we saw this... could've been the perfect major renovation project, with a little funding from our dedicated blog readers of course!
