I can't count the number of times I've thought, 'I wish I could just make those (you fill in the home decorating blank here... drapes, pillows, ottoman slipcover, bed skirt) myself.' And to add another 'I wish' to the list, I've been racking my brain to come up with a way to make my own table skirt for a console table in our office.
I love this linen table skirt from Wisteria. The panels allow you to access all storage items easily, which is exactly what I need in our office to store my school notebooks, our photo albums, and other items I don't want on display.
Naturally, Jenny created a beautiful skirted console table with her mother's help.
I'm wondering if I could create a similar look with some iron-on hem tape? Suggestions welcome, until I can learn my way around a sewing machine.
I want to learn to sew too! I got a sewing machine for Christmas from my mom and it's still sitting in it's box in our office. Sigh. Maybe if you learn it will inspire me to get on it...
ReplyDeleteI would also like to learn how to sew, I think I'm going to make my mom teach me once we move into the new house. I did find a no-sew skirted table... http://newlyweddiaries.blogspot.com/2009/08/day-765-no-sew-skirted-table.html
ReplyDeleteHey! Lizzie beat me to it--Jennifer's post is good. I followed her directions (sort of) and made mine in 2 hours a few months ago with some left over canvas and fabric glue. I was just staring at it last night thinking it needed a facelift with some new fabric, but right now it gets the job done. Let me know if you want a picture!
ReplyDeleteHey girl, you know I can sew a few things! Let me know if you want to learn together ;)
